We are going to be looking at three products. They are the CTA Playstation Move Assualt, Sniper, and Submachine Gun accessories. These three are, obviously, intended for use with shooters for the Playstation Move. While there are several similarities between the three, each one has its own features unique to it as well, so let’s have a look at the features of each one individually.

Assault Rifle

The Assault Rifle controller is easily the most unique of the three, as it is not only designed for use with the Playstation Move, but will work with standard Playstation 3 shooters as well. That’s because this particular attachment features every button available on a standard Playstation 3 controller, right down to the clickable thumbsticks and the trigger is mapped to the traditional Playstation 3 fire button, R1. Two other extras that this gun accessory has that the other two don’t are a rumble feature and a built in speaker with options for single shot, three round burst, and fully automatic sound effects, as well as an off position if you don’t want to hear any of these.

As to the Playstation Move aspect of this controller, transitioning is a breeze. Simply attach the removable cradle and insert your motion controller into it. The Assault Rifle’s dual trigger system makes contact with the Move controller’s T button, so pulling the trigger on the gun automatically pulls the “trigger” on the motion controller. Additionally, all of the motion controller functions can be mimicked with a corresponding button on the gun.

Finally, the look of the gun can be customized a bit thanks to the removable stock and scope.

Sniper Rifle

Next up, let’s take a look at what features the Sniper Rifle accessory has to offer. This one is specifically designed for use with the Playstation Move. It features a cradle just above the barrel for your motion sensor controller to slide into, and additionally there is an attachment cradle for the Move Navigation controller as well.

The look and feel of this gun are customizable as well, with a removable scope, stock, and muzzle. With all three removed, it resembles a pistol grip shotgun, making it basically two gun types in one. It also includes a removable bipod, for those times when you have to “lie down in the weeds” but still need some stability.

Submachine Gun

Finally, let’s have a look at what the Submachine Gun accessory has to offer. Again, this one is designed specifically for use with the Playstation Move. Once again, the motion controller goes in a cradle up front, but in this case the navigation controller goes into the handle and, as you can see in the picture, the trigger buttons on the navigation controller function as the gun’s trigger. Like the other two, this gun has a customizable appearance, featuring a removable scope and stock.

The Bottom Line

One of the main complaints from those looking for a realistic experience with light based shooters is that the gun peripherals is that they are too small and lightweight, making for a very flimsy feel that takes away from the realism. The CTA Playstation Move Assault, Sniper, and Submachine guns are all solidly made and have just the right amount of weight to give a feeling of substance to the guns without becoming a burden in extended gaming sessions. While these aren’t a must have for any gamer, if you are specifically looking for a gun accessory for your Playstation Move, then any of these three guns would make a solid choice.
