The CTA Wii Inflatable Kart seems like it would be a lot of fun, especially if you have small children who love racing games. Truth be told, it is a lot of fun. There are, however, some issues with it that can put a damper on that enjoyment. Before we get into all of that though, let’s have a look at exactly what the Kart is all about.

Obviously, it looks cool. If your children (or you, for that matter) love cars and racing games, this is a lot of fun and can be the source for some genuine happiness. This is, however, a case where buyer beware certainly applies. With the exception of the steering wheel, everything on this car is inflatable. This makes for a soft, comfortable ride as well as easy storage when deflated. It is designed to hold up to 300 pounds, and the steering wheel supports a standard Wii-mote or a Wii-mote with Wii Motion Plus. Additionally, the Wii-mote is easy to snap into place and fits securely in the steering wheel.

First of all, the steering wheel is attached to the body of the car with too very flimsy plastic tabs that numerous buyers have reported breaking within the very first day of use. Several have reported that it could be glued back on and still function though, so there is that if this happens to you, but still, there is your first red flag.

Additionally, buyer after buyer has reported that the seam where the seat meets the back of the car tends to tear, and again, there are repeated reports of this happening on the very first day of use. Unlike the steering wheel issue though, due to the location of the seam, there isn’t a way to repair this if you are one of the unfortunate ones whom has it tear on them.

Now, from all reports, the car is still functional after this seam tears, however since the seat section is deflated because of it, it is nowhere near as comfortable to sit in. You could always put a pillow underneath, and it would still be decent in regards to being comfortable.

Here is the thing, although it supports adult weights, this is clearly marketed for children. The chances are that your child isn’t going to care that they had to have their steering wheel glued back on, so long as it works. They aren’t going to mind having to slide a pillow underneath to be comfortable, because it still looks like a really cool racing kart. In other words, your child will surely get $40 of enjoyment out of this accessory.

That being said, it is difficult to recommend spending $40 on something that tears up the first day, even if it is semi-repairable and still useable. The CTA Wii Inflatable Kart would be an awesome attachment if they would address the quality issue, and would be worth it even if they had to raise the price slightly to make it a little more durable. As it stands now, our opinion won’t say do or don’t buy this. A few people have reported no problems with it whatsoever, but the high number of complaints about this product should have you very weary. Buy at your own risk.
