A soundbar that seems too quiet is often limited by a TV output setting, night mode, the selected input, or an audio format mismatch. Work through these checks before assuming the hardware has failed.
Set the TV volume to a normal level if its audio output is variable, then raise the soundbar volume. Check that Mute is off on both devices.
Night mode and dynamic-range compression reduce loud sounds. They can make a soundbar seem weak, especially with movies. Look for Night, DRC, Auto Volume, or Volume Leveling in both TV and soundbar settings.
Select HDMI ARC/eARC, External Speakers, or Optical output as appropriate. PCM is often the safest test setting when an older soundbar cannot decode the selected format.
Try a built-in app and a separate HDMI source. If one source is quiet, inspect that device’s volume and audio settings.
