To connect a soundbar with HDMI eARC, join the TV’s HDMI port labeled eARC/ARC to the soundbar’s HDMI OUT port labeled eARC/ARC, enable HDMI-CEC and eARC, then select the audio system as the TV output. The labels matter: ordinary HDMI ports do not automatically carry return audio.
Volume should respond through HDMI-CEC, TV apps should play through the soundbar, and supported high-bitrate audio should reach the soundbar when the source, app, TV, and soundbar all support it. An Atmos badge alone does not prove a lossless format; streaming services commonly use compressed Dolby Digital Plus, while disc sources may use Dolby TrueHD.
If you only need standard ARC, use the HDMI ARC setup guide. The ARC explainer helps identify compatible ports.
If a replacement is justified, compare a certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. For installations behind furniture, a properly oriented HDMI adapter can reduce strain, but every added connection is another possible failure point.
Not as a full eARC link. Some products can fall back to ARC, but compatibility is implementation-dependent; check both manuals.
eARC was introduced with HDMI 2.1, but manufacturers may implement features selectively. Trust the eARC port label and product documentation rather than the headline HDMI version alone.
Auto is the best starting point when both products support eARC. Turn it off temporarily when testing an older ARC-only device.
