To enable HDMI CEC for a soundbar, turn on the TV manufacturer’s HDMI-control option, enable control or TV-remote functions on the soundbar, and connect the labeled ARC/eARC ports. CEC allows compatible devices to exchange power, volume, and input commands, but brand names and supported commands vary.
Samsung calls it Anynet+, LG uses SIMPLINK, Sony uses BRAVIA Sync, Panasonic uses VIERA Link, and other manufacturers may say HDMI Control, Device Link, or CEC. The setting is usually under General, Connection, External Devices, Inputs, or System.
Disconnect other HDMI devices and test the TV and soundbar alone. A cable box, switch, or older HDMI device can create a CEC conflict. Power everything off, unplug for two minutes, reconnect the soundbar first, and add other devices one at a time. CEC is not perfectly standardized, so one function may work even when another does not.
See our HDMI ARC connection guide and ARC troubleshooting guide. The Soundbar & Audio Gadget Wiz can walk through the symptoms. For a confirmed cable fault, compare a certified High Speed HDMI cable or a certified Ultra High Speed HDMI cable.
Many products rely on CEC to discover and control the ARC audio system, so enabling it is an important setup step.
The devices may support different CEC commands or have separate power-sync settings.
No. Compatibility varies, and some devices implement only part of the CEC command set.
