If ARC is recognized but silent for specific content, temporarily set the TV’s digital audio output to PCM. If sound returns, the cable and return channel are likely working, while the previous bitstream format or passthrough combination was unsupported.

10. Check updates and model-specific support notes

Review the official support pages for both models. Install firmware only from the manufacturer and follow its instructions exactly. Do not interrupt power during an update. Look for release notes or support articles that mention ARC, eARC, HDMI control, audio dropout, or format compatibility.

11. Compare the complete audio path

For missing surround or intermittent sound, list every link:

  1. Program, disc, game, or stream audio format
  2. Source-device audio setting
  3. Connection from the source to the TV or soundbar
